Allianchu! I’d like to start with thanking my ancestors and the ancestors of the Chumash people, whose land I live on.
My name is Alyssa and I help organizations connect with their audiences using storytelling, design, social listening, and data analysis. I love problem solving and finding creative solutions using digital media to help folks elevate their voice in the social arena.
I’ve always been a passionate and curious person. As an Andean-descended creator, I strive for living in alignment with the values of my ancestors and giving back to my community. Courage and compassion have been my North Star; my path to working towards social justice and liberation of all oppressed peoples has been illuminated by these core values. Creativity is my first language and, for better or worse, I have the mindset that there’s no subject I can’t learn or problem I can’t solve. Think big picture thinking with the ability to zoom way in and hyper focus. My creativity combined with my experimental approach have allowed me to create pieces that bring otherwise marginalized narratives front and center for a powerful social media impact.
In a society that demands so much of our time and labor, attention is a precious commodity. How do we find each other amidst the noise and unlimited competition for our attention?
I find that the answer lies in human connection. Building genuine relationships will be a balm that can heal so many, especially as so many people experience loneliness and lack a sense of belonging. Time and time again, I’ve seen how strongly people respond to offerings of hope, empowerment, and a call to return to the sacred in our world. Community building extends to the online sphere. If we are to build relationships and strengthen our connections, being vulnerable and authentic is key.
